RAVN from 1349 shares thoughts on "Christian Black Metal"...

Back in November we chatted with Olav "Ravn" Bergene from Norwegian Black-Metal outfit 1349, we talked about everything from Satanism, Terrorism and about their upcoming tour of Australia. Here are some excerpts:

On the Paris terrorist attack…

“It’s of course a huge tragedy and a shame, but it happened and the world is a crazy place. There’s a lot of crazy people out there and if you add religion to that ingredient, that is what’s going to happen. It is one reason not to become religious, as cynical as that sounds.”

Ravn’s thoughts on “Christian Black-Metal”...

“A Christian Black-Metal band is absurd to me, it doesn’t make any sense. It physically cannot exist. They have fundamentally misunderstood what black metal is. I don’t get it why if you are a Christian you want to swoosh off the flame and the name Black-Metal. Black-Metal is such a powerful word in the music genre. If you want to take that term which is of the complete opposite side of what you are representing and you want to use that in your band, then if you are really a Christian then that should be your highway to hell.
